The layout is mostly in three levels, but they
connect by going around the wall at a very gradual 1-2% incline. The trains
can start on the bottom level and make the circle three times, ending up
on the top level.
The setting is the Ozark mountains.between Springdale and Ft. Smith. This is now the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad, formerly BN and Frisco.
I am not trying to be all that accurate to the Arkansas & Missouri RR. The town names are just to suggest the Arkansas Ozarks. There are plenty of variations from prototype. The room is 15 feet by 30 feet.. |

Left: This is the big picture in August, 2008. I have just barely started on the scenery details. Most buildings are built, but now it's time for roads, trees, track ballast, greenery, and electric lighting in most buildings. Van Buren, the largest town that I've modeled, is on the lower left.

Below: A gravel train, with two A&M Alcos, pulls out of Glacier Gravel Company's plant. This scene does not exist on the real A&M, but I enjoyed making it, and it gives me an excuse for lots of gravel cars.
