Irritating Listening Habits
Below are listed irritating listening habits that can create communication problems.
  1. Dominates conversations.  Tells me more than I need to know.
  2. Interrupts.
  3. No eye contact.
  4. Doodles and draws when I talk.
  5. Blank expression.
  6. Takes phone calls while we are meeting.
  7. Never smiles.
  8. Questions everything I say.
  9. Goes off on unrelated tangents.
  10. Downgrades every suggestion.
  11. Finishes sentences for me.
  12. Rephrases what I say, putting words in my mouth.
  13. Refuses to provide direct answers to questions.
  14. Asks questions about what I have just said, showing inattention.
  15. Twitches constantly, just waiting for me to stop so he or she can take over.
  16. Frequently looks at watch or clock while I am talking.
  17. Doesn't put down what he or she is doing when I arrive.
  18. Seems withdrawn and distant.
  19. Won't sit still.
