Above: One of our goals was to check out cowboy bars. This is "Sam's Lounge" in Glasgow, Montana (pop. 3253). Right: Not every small airport is the same. When we decided to land in Minneapolis, Nebraska (pop. 2046) to avoid some weather ahead, the runway (foreground) was in bad shape and the terminal building and hangars were empty and boarded up. There was nothing in sight except wheat fields. Fortunately, the weather passed in a few minutes and we flew 20 miles (to Clay Center, Kansas, with a larger airport) to spend the night. |
